Every writer has different things they find difficult.\u00a0 For some, it may be creating believable dialogue.\u00a0 Others might have trouble with pacing.\u00a0 Many have a really difficult time coming up with a good ending.\u00a0 As for me, it\u2019s coming up with good names.<\/p>\n
How do I do it?\u00a0 Sometimes I borrow names from various books, games, and TV series I like.\u00a0 Though I generally save those for minor characters \/ locations as a sort of Easter egg for my audience.\u00a0 Other times, I choose names due to their meanings. Either the meaning of the word itself, or to bring to mind other similar characters.\u00a0 Most of the time though, I just make something up that I think sounds good.\u00a0 On a side note, when I make up names from scratch, I tend to end up with a lot that begin with the letter K.\u00a0 Not really sure why\u2026<\/p>\n
So what about some of the names in Aurora\u2019s Nightmare?\u00a0 Here\u2019s the history of a few of them.<\/p>\n
Aurora Haeres: Aurora said her name in the original dream I had which inspired the story.\u00a0 Being a dream though, my memory of the exact spelling and pronunciation was a bit hazy.\u00a0 I went back and forth for a while between Aura and Aurora before settling on the later (I polled some friends and Aurora won).\u00a0 As for her last name\u2026\u00a0 I actually can\u2019t remember.\u00a0 I kind of think I just made it up and liked the sound.\u00a0 On the other hand, there actually is some meaning behind it (which I won\u2019t get into to avoid giving away story elements).<\/p>\n
Tristitia \u201cTia\u201d Indago: Tia had a much smaller role in the original version of the story and, as such, I didn\u2019t really come up with a name for her until I started working on the visual novel, where she gets much more screen time.\u00a0 Her first name is derived from a word in a certain foreign language that has some relevance to her character (if you want to know which language, you\u2019ll have to figure that out yourself).\u00a0 I think I made her last name up\u2026but I might have derived it from a word in that same language.\u00a0 Either way, it was a few years ago and I just can\u2019t remember for sure.<\/p>\n
Ars Clavine: The name Ars is another derivative from that foreign language (I was having an especially difficult time with names that day, so I got to playing around with Google Translate for a while).\u00a0 Clavine, on the other hand, is made-up.\u00a0 I think I loosely based it off the name for the human race in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.<\/p>\n
The Cat: Ok, nothing special here.\u00a0 The cat is a cat.\u00a0 There\u2019s a reason it lacks a proper name, but that would be a serious spoilers so you\u2019ll just have to play the game to find out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
