{"id":379,"date":"2016-01-10T04:04:15","date_gmt":"2016-01-10T09:04:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/penandswordgames.com\/AurorasNightmare\/?p=379"},"modified":"2016-01-10T04:04:15","modified_gmt":"2016-01-10T09:04:15","slug":"a-pitch-document","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/penandswordgames.com\/AurorasNightmare\/a-pitch-document\/","title":{"rendered":"A Pitch Document"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A pitch document is something that\u2019s typically created when a game is in the early planning stages.\u00a0 The goal is to communicate the most important information about the game, what it is, the key features, how it plays, etc. in one page.\u00a0 It\u2019s used to \u201cpitch\u201d the game to others.\u00a0 Your boss, other team members, potential publishers, etc.\u00a0 I\u2019ve made a lot of pitch documents in the past, but I never made one for Aurora\u2019s Nightmare.\u00a0 The main reason being that I never had a need for it.\u00a0 Since this is a personal project, I never had to pitch it to anyone and I\u2019m pretty good at keeping things organized in my head, so I jumped right to some of the more detailed documentation.\u00a0 Anyway, I recently did make an AN pitch document as part of a writing assignment so I figured I\u2019d share it here.\u00a0 As a note, the number of decision points and endings used in the pitch document are estimates.\u00a0 I won\u2019t have an exact count until the script is finished.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aurora\u2019s Nightmare<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Pen and Sword Games<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Josiah Lebowitz<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Venue<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Aurora\u2019s Nightmare<\/em> is a visual novel game for the PC, iOS, and Android.\u00a0 The story is fantasy \/ suspense, with an estimated T rating for content and violence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Features<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A lengthy branching narrative with a memorable cast of characters.<\/li>\n<li>Over 100 decision points and 30 endings across 3 main branches.<\/li>\n<li>High quality music and artwork.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Premise<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Aurora\u2019s Nightmare<\/em> takes place on the idyllic world of Lucerna, which is home to a race of winged humans known as Angellus.\u00a0 The main character, Ars, is a young man who works as a research scientist alongside his fianc\u00e9, Tristitia (Tia for short), and their childhood friend, Aurora.\u00a0 However, a chance encounter causes their perfect life to unravel and sets them on a path to learn the dark secrets lurking beneath Lucerna\u2019s calm surface.\u00a0 As for what truths will be uncovered, and what will become of the three friends, that depends on the player\u2019s decisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Basic Game Play<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Aurora\u2019s Nightmare<\/em> will use a branching story structure similar to that of visual novel games such as <em>Fate\/Stay Night<\/em> and <em>Tsukihime<\/em>.\u00a0 Players will read through the story while accompanied by a constant flow of artwork and music.\u00a0 There will be 3 main branches (story paths), each with numerous minor and moderate branches, 10 or more bad endings, and 2 good endings.\u00a0 The completion of each main path will add additional decision points to the story, allowing the player to make new decisions and explore new paths on each subsequent play-through.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A pitch document is something that\u2019s typically created when a game is in the early planning stages.\u00a0 The goal is to communicate the most important information about the game, what it is, the key features, how it plays, etc. in one page.\u00a0 It\u2019s used to \u201cpitch\u201d the game to others.\u00a0 Your boss, other team members, &hellip;
