Meet the Nightmares

Time to reveal the most dangerous creatures in Lucerna! First, my original notes.

Nightmare (Generic)
Gender: Male (though kind of hard to tell)
Age: Unknown
Height: 6’
Build: Athletic
Hair: Short and Ragged
Eyes: Reddish Orange (slanted)
Dominant Hand: Right
Additional Notes (Appearance): Nightmares have the same basic body structure as Angellus (humanoid with wings), though they’re more feral, with claw like fingernails and sharp teeth.  They don’t wear clothing (or, if they do, it’s not obvious where the clothes end and skin begins.  Their entire body is iridescent black, like an oil slick, and seems to be melting or dripping darkness.
Character Summary: Nightmares are strange beings which occasionally appear in Lucerna.  They   are extremely violent, but usually vanish only a few minutes (or even a few seconds) after appearing.

As you can see, Nightmare refers to an entire race rather than a specific character.  Though you might notice that the line at the top of that descriptive text says “Nightmare (Generic)”.  Does that mean there might be some special Nightmares?  Well, you’ll have to wait and see…

Here’s one of Hanbee’s Nightmare sketches. It lacks the dripping darkness effect, which would be added as part of the coloring and shading. It’s also wearing clothes (well, a rag anyway), which is a change that Hanbee made to my original design.

I really can’t say much else about the Nightmares without spoiling some major plot points. Normally I’d show one of the in-game character poses, but the Nightmare’s aren’t quite done yet, so here’s a CG instead! The dripping darkness isn’t the way I originally envisioned it, but I’m happy with the way it turned out.
