A campaign?

Unlike quite a lot of current indie games, you may have noticed that Aurora’s Nightmare doesn’t have an associated Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign.  So why didn’t I go that route?  Well, Aurora’s Nightmare is a project I started work on several years back (though various other jobs and projects delayed it quite a bit), a little before the whole Kickstarter craze really began.  Another issue is that, unlike most of the game projects you’ll find on funding sites, Aurora’s Nightmare was planned with a very small budget in mind. Specifically, something I could pay for out of my own savings without too much trouble.  So no outside funding is needed to finish the game.  Not to mention that advertising a funding campaign can be tough (and time consuming) but is necessary since, no matter how great your project is, you’re not going to get any money if people don’t know about it.

That said, there are certainly some cool additions and/or improvements which could be made if I had some extra money.  Additional art and music (including a full set of CGs)?  A vocal theme song?  Animated movies?  Voice acting?  A fourth story route?  All things I’d love to add to Aurora’s Nightmare, but just don’t fit in the current schedule and budget.  So I haven’t entirely ruled out a funding campaign.  But, if I do one, it will specially be for additions and improvements, rather than just completing the game.  Also, if it happens, it will likely be after the release of the first demo, so backers will be able to try the game out as a teaser.

So, what do you think?  Would you like to see a funding campaign to improve Aurora’s Nightmare?  Feel free to e-mail me and let me know what you think.
